1. Take the lack of full vehicle history disclosure or the lack of a readily available VIN (vehicle identification number) history report as a sign not to buy the car. The VIN history report divulges all the past details of the car including the true mileage and the specific type of damage which caused the car to be classified as salvage. If this is not available, then it usually means the seller has something to hide and that car is not a good purchase.

2. The lack of warranty plays a big role in determining if the customer purchases the car. Six-month customary warranties should be given on salvaged cars. The seller usually offers the buyer the opportunity to upgrade this warranty to a year or 2 years for a cost. If the car comes without at least a 6 month warranty do not buy it.

3. If the seller does not allow the buyer to have their own mechanic perform a full quality check on the car, whether a vehicle history report has been provided or not, then it is advisable not to buy this car as it may have hidden problems that you do not want to discover.

4. Flood damaged cars are a very popular item for resale by salvage dealers. These cars cannot effectively function for any long period as extensive damage to the engine, electrical and inside of the car has occurred. Beware of sellers who try to pass these cars off as a good buy.
